FAQ & troubleshooting
Common questions about installing Yokaify, its behavior, privacy, and migrating from other tools.
Installation
The mascot isn't showing up
Check that the script is present with a valid data-site-key, included only once, and that your domain is in your allowed-origins list. Ad blockers can also hide third-party widgets.
The mascot loads but can't answer
This is almost always an allowed-origins issue — add your domain in the dashboard. See Site keys & allowed origins.
Behavior
Why didn't the mascot pop up?
By design. Yokaify only steps in on clear hesitation, and respects cooldowns, a per-visitor daily cap, and a holdout group that is never shown the mascot.
Does it slow down my site?
No — the script is async and scoring runs in a background Web Worker.
Is it privacy-friendly?
Behavior is scored in the browser, and visitors are identified by a random anonymous ID rather than personal data.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — it uses touch-specific signals like touch dwell, rage taps, and pinch-zoom.
Migrating from other tools
From Chatbase
For website chat, mostly yes: Yokaify delivers grounded answers from your content plus proactive, behavior-triggered help that a reactive widget doesn't. The gaps to know about: Yokaify doesn't yet support file or PDF uploads, importing question-and-answer pairs, or calling external APIs and actions.
From Gorgias
Not a replacement. Gorgias is a help desk — tickets, email, SMS, macros. Yokaify is an onsite conversion agent focused on the moment of purchase, so it complements a helpdesk rather than replacing it.
